Eureka Guest House Mauritius

Eureka Guest House Mauritius
Address : Mauritius.

LOCATION : Eurꫡ, at Moka, in the centre of Mauritius, is one of the best-preserved residences from the French colonial period still in good condition. Its ancient architecture is of a rare beauty, but it is interesting for more than one reason. The museum harbours real treasures, such as antique furniture, old photographs. In addition, the magnificent garden and waterfalls around the house contribute to the beauty of the place. Today, Eurꫡ reflects the past of Mauritius through the prism of an old aristocratic family. The house has a collection of: antique furniture, old photographs , chinaware, old books, rugs. The history of the house is also very interesting, specially when narrated by the owner himself, Jacques Planteau de Maroussem, who relates with an exquisite charm the various events from different periods of the property: the change of ownership and their problems. In brief: The house was built by Mr. Carr, a British notable who wanted to be nearer to 'Le R餵it' where the governor lived. We hence learn that a certain Recul頳old the property "of spices and sugar canes" to Mr. Montmirail who had fled the French revolution in 1793. In 1812, Mr. et Mrs. Robinson bought the property and later sold it to Mr. Eug讥 Lecl麩o in 1856, father of Sir Eug讥 Lecl麩o, chief of justice and Sir Henry Lecl麩o, attorney and member of the Legislative Assembly.Eureka is in fact more than a museum. The property will delight all nature lovers. The visitor enters a world of peace and calm. The English style gardens have replaced the sugar cane fields and spice trees which were originally at Eurꫡ. Nowadays one can find at Eurꫡ different palm trees, mango trees, and a gigantic damaras (agathis robusta;) one of the best example is in fact found at Eurꫡ. ... You can have a glimpse of the lush greenery, which surrounds the house. Eurꫡ hosts some rare endemic plants. Here is a list of some of them: Bois pipe, Bois colophane Bⴡrd, Bois en poudre, Makak, Manglier vert, Bois de Rivi貥, Bois puant, Bois de Clou, Bois de Pomme, Bois de Fer, Liane ࠧratter, Mapou.
EUREKA ALSO PROPOSES:The guesthouse - Soeur St George The guesthouse 'Pavillon de la Soeur St-George' is situated in a very quiet green corner of the garden. Small double-bedded room, the guesthouse is equipped with bathroom and kitchenette (fridge, microwave oven, kettle, toaster). Surrounded by its magnificent garden and waterfalls the guesthouse is the ideal place for those seeking calm and quietness. It is probably not by chance that its first guests were poets and writers. Under the veranda or on the grass? The right place for a Creole food treat, Eureka offers the possibility to have lunch under its impressive veranda or on the grass, shadowed by the century-old trees. Mauritian dishes are actually a blend of the different cultures coexisting on the island.. For example, the 'rougaille' is a thick mildly spicy tomato sauce cooked with onions, garlic, thyme, the coconut chutney is a mixture of crushed coconut in coriander.
